Asthma Management and Education
This program recognizes the critical role allied health professionals play in educating and caring for patients with asthma and allergies. Attendees will learn the latest techniques in asthma care and receive current and reliable patient education information and materials. Program participants will also receive hands on peak flow meter training and learn proper techniques for using various medication devices.
All program materials comply with the standards set by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s 2007Expert Panel Report 3: Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma.
The Continuing Education Credits
Continuing education credits are available for registered nurses, nurse practitioners and respiratory therapists.
This program has been approved for 2.6 contact hours by the Maryland Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).
The program has been approved for two CRCE credits by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).
This program is funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Indoor Environments Division.

Keynote Speaker:
Jeanette Arnold, C-FNP
Jeanette Arnold, MSN, CFNP is a family nurse practitioner and Instructor in Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. After obtaining a BSRN from UMMC, she subsequently graduated from Mississippi University for Women, School of Nursing with a Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner degree. Jeanette currently serves as the AAAAI Allied Health Professionals Assembly Co-Chair, serves on the Abstract Review Committee, is on the CME Fellowship Committee at UMMC and is active in her church and community as the mother of two young children. Her areas of clinical expertise include Chronic Rhinosinusitis, Chronic Cough/Recalcitrant Asthma and Autoimmune related Urticaria, as well other asthma and allergy related diseases.
